Second series for Robert - F3 Euro
May 24, 2008 - It was announced today that Red Bull Junior Driver
Robert Wickens will now contest the F3 Euro Series (F3) in addition to his
current duties in World Series Renault (WSR). Robert's first F3 race will
be this coming weekend (May 31 - June 1) in Pau, France.
Robert, now the busiest driver on the Red Bull Junior Team,
will race F3 with Signature-Plus based in Bourges, France.
Robert will continue with UK-based Carlin Motorsport in World Series Renault.
Robert will travel extensively to participate in F3 and WSR
events. There is just one weekend in August where there is a conflicting
date (WSR - Nurburgring; F3 - Brands Hatch).

World Series Renault FR3.5 Race 3 – Monaco
May 22, 2008 - Practice Update: World Series Renault conducted their
single practice session ahead of this weekend's race at Monaco and Robert
would end the day P5 on the tight Monaco street circuit.
Robert the described the circuit as "one of the smoothest tracks"
he has been on but added "there is no room for error". He reported
that he is pleased with his performance and put in his fastest
laps late in the session.
Robert will next be on track Saturday morning for qualifying
with the race on Sunday. We will post results as they become
available. There is no live timing for this event.
May 21, 2008 - Robert hits the streets of Monaco this weekend for
round three of the World Series Renault. This weekend's race
is just for the FR 3.5 drivers as it is part of the Monaco Grand
Prix Formula 1 event. Street courses are not new to Robert. He
has had some success on them right back to his days in karting
having won a number of events. In his first street race in Atlantic last
season he put the car on pole and went on to record his first podium finish
(P2). Here's hoping he has better luck here than in rounds one and two where
contact has forced him out of each race.
A1GP Awards - Accolades for Robert
Robert receives awards for Best Rookie and Best Overtaking Manoeuvre
May 05 , 2008 - A1GP held their awards
banquet today in London to wrap up the 07/08 season. As part
of the ceremonies, awards were handed out in a variety of categories
and Robert would be recognized for his outstanding performance
since joining the team in Malaysia. Robert would score Canada's
first sprint race win and rack up a total of five podiums on
the year. He would be the series' youngest ever pole-sitter and
he has one fastest lap to his credit.
In addition to Best Rookie honours, Robert was also recognized
for his amazing pass in the pouring rain at Eastern Creek, Sydney. Not
a surprise for anyone who has seen Robert race karts in the rain,
but this pass was the long way around the outside, on a long,
fast left-hand er ... ON SLICKS.

World Series Renault FR3.5 Race 2 – SPA, Belgium
May 02 , 2008 - Robert will be hoping for
a better weekend after being taken out of both races of round
one at Monza last week. A cut tire in race one ended his day
and he was the victim of contact in race two. In both races he
was showing good speed at the front of the field and in podium
position at the time.
We will post results from Friday practice as soon as possible.
Qualifying this weekend will also feature the superpole shootout.
World Series Renault FR3.5 Race 1 – Monza, Italy
April 24 , 2008 - Robert is in Italy this
weekend at the famed Monza circuit for the first round of the
2008 World Series by Renault. After strong tests in Barcelona
in the brand new 535 bhp FR3.5, Robert and his Carlin Motorsport
crew are looking for a good first outing. Testing takes place
Thursday and Friday with Qualifying and race meetings on Saturday.
WSR conducts double-race meetings. We will be monitoring results
and posting updates as available.
A1GP Shanghai
Robert scores another podium - P2 in the Sprint Race
UPDATE April 13, 2008 01:15 hrs Sprint
Race - Robert would take another podium in the series with a second-place
finish in the sprint race. We do not have all of the details - we're waiting
for the video replay at 02:00 hrs, but it sure looks like the lead trio had a
good start and broke away from the pack in the ten lap race. Robert picked up
enough points to vault A1 Team Canada to eighth place in the standings.
The Feature race will star at 03:00 hrs this morning.
UPDATE April 12, 2008 00:05 hrs Second Free Practice - Arriving
late to the track on Friday after flying in from Barcelona, Robert would get
his first run at the Shanghai circuit in today's 60-minute practice session.
He would start out slowly to learn the track over the first half-dozen laps.
After a short pit stop he would be back on track and immediately start to pick
up times in each sector. After a few more laps it was back into the pits for
adjustments.
With thirty-five minutes to go in the session, Robert was back and his sector
one times dropped with each successive lap. On lap 14 Robert would put in the
ultimate lap going blue in each sector (blue denotes personal best time) putting
him P7. One more stop in the pits and with eight minutes left Robert put on another
charge, improving his sector times each lap and settling on a best lap of 1:36.082
at 172.5 Kmh. He ended the session P7, just 6/10ths back
Next up is the Hot Lap qualifying for the Sprint and Feature races. This will
take place at 02:15 hrs. We will have a report in the morning.
World Series Renault FR3.5 test, Barcelona, Spain
Update April 10, 2008 - Robert would be on track
for the morning session only today and would certainly make the most of it. In
perfect conditions and building on two solid days in the car so far, Robert would
leave the track with the fastest time overall for the three days. The only driver
to break into the 1:32's (1:32.971) with an average speed of 180.2 KmH, Robert
reported that he was very happy with his Carlin Motorsport FR3.5. He is very
happy with his own performance and the support he receives from everyone at Carlin
Motorsport.
Robert left the track immediately after the first session to catch a flight to
Shanghai for the A1GP event. He will be in the car for saturday's practice and
qualifying sessions.
April 08 , 2008 - It is the
first day of testing at Barcelona today for the World Series Renault drivers
and Robert would end the day third fastest in collective testing. Robert would
have a great second session in changing conditions to take his Carlin Motorsport
FR3.5 to a lap of 1:33.798 at an average speed of 178.7 KmH around the Barcelona
circuit.
"We are happy with our performance today" Robert said. "Things went much better
that our last session at Valencia where the weather controlled us. We are hoping
for some more improvements through the rest of the week."
A1GP Shanghai April 11-13... ROAD TRIP!!
April 08, 2008 - A1 Team Canada announced the drivers
for this weekend's race in Shanghai China and Robert will be at the wheel on
Saturday for qualifying and the race on Sunday ... but it will be a bit of a
road trip to get there.
Currently in Barcelona, Spain testing the World Series Renault FR3.5 with Carlin
Motorsport, Robert will leave the final test session and head directly to the
airport for a flight to Shanghai. He is slated to arrive at the track Friday
afternoon. Team mate Daniel Morad will take the car out for the afternoon session
and get the car set up for Robert to complete practice on Saturday morning. Robert
will then qualify the car Saturday afternoon for the sprint and feature races.
"Shanghai will likely be my last race with the team this season as there is a
conflict with our first WSR race the same weekend as Brands Hatch" commented
Robert. "So I am really looking forward to the race at Shanghai and having another
good result."
Robert will be on track for practice at 23:00 hrs Friday night with qualifying
to follow at approximately 01:00 hrs Saturday morning.

A1GP Mexico - Drama in Pit Lane - an A1GP Mystery
!
 |
"Where's our Moose?" was
the plaintive cry from the A1 Team Canada pits Sunday morning when it was
discovered the team's beloved mascot had been abducted.
Last seen on Saturday evening, the
mascot which answers to the name 'El Moose' (at least in Mexico) was wearing
a tri-colour sombrero and according to team members, "a winning attitude".
A1 Team Canada immediately posted a reward for the return of El Moose and
by race time had stepped up their search and posted a plea on the car in
case someone around the circuit had any information.
As of today (21st) there is still no news as to El Moose's whereabouts
but the team is hopeful their mascot will be back in time for the next
race in Shanghai on April 13. |
If you have any information that leads to the successful
return of El Moose, there could be a reward in your future.

UPDATE - March 16 - 19:50hrs - Feature Race: Robert
would have a great start and control the first five laps but come under constant
pressure from Switzerland through the early laps. He would sit P2 at the first
round of pit stops and after all teams had cycled through, Robert sat P3. Late
in this stint he was again under pressure and sit P5 at the next pit stop. P6
after the second round of pit stops, Robert was able to hold off any charge and
would end the race P5. We will post A1 Team Canada's post race report as it becomes
available.
UPDATE - March 16 - 13:50hrs - Sprint Race: The first
attempt at a start was red-flagged as cars collided going into turn one. A restart
would come 15 minutes later with just one car not making the grid. The field
is very close with not many opportunities to pass and Robert would come
across P8 after lap one. He would move to P7 on lap three. The safety car would
come out mid-race for three laps and there would be another yellow to slow the
field. Robert would hold P7 to the fourteenth and final lap and score some points.
The Feature Race goes at 17:00hrs with Robert starting from pole.
Robert on pole for Feature Race!
March 15, 2008 - 17:40hrs Qualifying
Feature Race - Robert would set fastest sector two and three times to
take the pole for tomorrow afternoon's Feature Race in Mexico with a lap of 1:20.278,.
His margin: 42/1000ths!!
The hot lap almost came to naught for Team Canada when a yellow flag came out
as Robert came through the final turns. Robert was on the throttle coming through
the sweeping turn and was well into the turn when the yellow came out. Had the
yellow come out any earlier it might have ended his hot lap right there.
This is Robert's second pole - and first for the Feature Race. A nice birthday
present for Robert who turned 19 on Thursday. He won the Sprint Race from pole
in South Africa.
The Sprint race goes at 13:00hrs ET Sunday with the feature to follow at 17:00hrs.
March 15, 2008 - 16:53hrs Qualifying Sprint Race - Robert
would turn his fast lap in the first session of qualifying for the sprint race
with a 1:20.621 which is just 3/10ths off pole. The field is very close with
the top ten usually covered by less than one second and the track has been getting
faster with each session. Robert will start the sprint race P6.
March 14, 2008 - 17:13hrs - Robert's first session
is done and throughout the hour he would be up and down on the timing charts.
There were some yellows and a red flag in the session but Robert would put
in some good times. At the end of the session, Robert would sit P11 with a
time of 1:22.227. The entire filed is very close on the very fast circuit.
The next session takes place at 13:00 hrs DST on Saturday with qualifying to
follow at 16:15 hrs.
World Series by Renault
Update - March 06, 2008 - World Series
Renault test
High winds caused major problems at the tests in Valencia causing some damage
in the pit area. As a result, Tuesday sessions were cancelled part way through
the morning. Consequently, Robert did not have any time in the car. He is on
track for one session today. It is the first time out for all drivers in the
new 2008 FR3.5.
Update - March 03, 2008 - World Series
Renault test
Robert is in Valencia, Spain with his team Carlin Motorsport to test the new
World Series Renault FR3.5. Two days of testing will begin on Wednesday. As
the team has taken delivery of only one car to date, Robert will split test
sessions each day with his team mate. We will report session results as they
become available.
In the meantime, Robert did a brief Q&A session with Carlin just prior to leaving
for Spain. Read the interview on their web site at www.carlin.co.uk
A1GP South Africa - Disappointment
in the feature race
late race spin ends Robert's day
UPDATE 08:32 - Feature Race -Robert had a slow
start and would fall back to fifth but two safety car periods over the
first 10 laps kept the lead group in close contact. On the first pit stop window,
the lead group came in but Robert would stay out for a couple of laps and make
up some time. On his stop, the team did a fantastic job and Robert would come
out effectively P2 (waiting for others to cycle through their stops). Robert
was now P2 and keeping pace with the leader lap after lap. The second stop
went well and after all the leaders cycled through their stops, Robert remained
in second place.
With time running down, the leaders were coming up on lapped traffic. With
just eight minutes to go, Robert was dealing with lapped traffic at the hairpin
and would come in close and clipped the wall causing him to spin around. While
trying to get the car pointed back in the right direction, he was in the middle
of the track on the exit of the hairpin when another car coming through the
turn ran into his left rear. Robert was forced to retire from the race after
running a very solid P2. A great race overall. Just not the outcome we had
hoped for.
With Robert's win in the Sprint race, Canada now lies 8th overall in the championship
sitting on 52 points.
Robert Wins
Sprint race from Pole!
Canada's first ever Sprint race victory
February 24, 2008 - Temp 82F / 28C / Humidity 61%
UPDATE 07:00- Sprint Race - "Canada Wins Explosive
Sprint Race" is the headline on A1GP this morning as Robert has recorded
Canada's first sprint race victory in the series. It has also been noted that
Robert is the youngest ever pole-sitter in the series.
Robert would lead to the first turn and get through clean, surviving a bump
from behind. He made a quick exit went on to build a two-second lead in the
11-lap race. He would build up a lead of five seconds with
lots of action unfolding behind. A late-race crash brought out the safety car
saw his led evaporate. On the restart he would again pull out a lead but another
crash with just a few laps to go brought out the red flag and Robert would
lead the filed across the line to take the win. |

A1GP South Africa - Robert on
pole for Sprint race - P2 for Feature!
Canada's first pole in A1GP competition
February 23, 2008 - Temp 82F / 27.8C / Humidity 74%
UPDATE 08:32 - Qualifying - Feature Race - Robert
would end the first session off the pace when he had to brake hard for a car
on its in lap and lost some time. But he would make up for it in session 2.
First, he would wait to go out but another red flag nearly scrubbed the session.
The track was cleared and there was enough time to get the rest of the field
out for their hot lap. Robert would again put in some very fast sectors matching
the fastest times in sectors 2 and 3 and bring the car home P2, just 0.112
seconds off pole.
Robert will start both races from the front row - a good
place to be on the very tight street course in Durban.
UPDATE 07:45 EDT - Qualifying - Sprint Race - Session
one was scrubbed due to a red flag and Robert did not score a time but he would
come back in a big way to rake the pole on his single hot lap in the second
session. Robert would wait until most cars had completed their laps to take
advantage of a clear track. That had proved a gamble for most team in session
1 when the red flag stopped the session, but this time most went out early,
ran clean and the gamble would pay off for A1 Team Canada. Robert scored a time
of 1:18.150 taking Canada's first pole.
Practice - 07:00 EDT - After a rough day
on Friday dealing with damage to the car, Robert would come out for this morning's
practice and make a big move forward. Putting in 25 laps he would continue
to improve his times and come in P7 with a time of 1:18,.909.
February 22, 2008 8:10 EDT - Robert would get on track
with just nine minutes left in the first session for this weekend's primary drivers but
would quickly come up to pace. His was quick in each sector but between a series
of yellow flags and traffic, was not able to put together one good lap. It looks
to be a tight field for the street course in Durban with the top ten covered
by less that one second.
Robert en route to South Africa for A1GP
this weekend
February 19, 2008 - Robert is on his way to Durban, South Africa for the
next round of the A!GP series. He will be joined this weekend by good friend
Daniel Morad who will be taking over the rookie seat. Now that Robert has completed in
four race weekends, he can no longer run the rookie sessions on Friday morning.
Robert has scored three podiums out of eight races so far and moved A1 Team Canada
into the top ten in points. The team will be hoping to score some more points
this weekend on the street course in Durban.

A1GP Eastern Creek, Australia
Another Top Ten - P6 from 21st on the grid
February 03, 2008 Feature Race 00:25 hrs
EDT. - Lots of rain and a few cars out of place on the start made for
an interesting race. Robert, starting on the last row, would pass three cars
before the first corner and then proceed to follow the wet line. By the end
of lap one, Robert had made up eleven positions and sat P10. He would be P8 by
lap two and the race settled down for a series of laps. When the pits opened
he would come in early and cycle out to P12. By the time all teams had completed
their first stop Robert would be P10 on lap twelve. Over consecutive laps Robert
would pick up one position each lap until he would sit P6. The second stint
saw him losing time but maintaining position losing one spot just before the
second set of pit stops.
Robert would cycle out of this pit sequence in eighth place but was closing on
seventh very quickly. He would pass for P7 at the same time another of the front-runners
retired in the pits moving Robert to P6. He would hold that position through
to the checker flag and gain more points for the team.
Robert storms his way to the podium!
February 02, 2008 Sprint Race 19:47 hrs
EDT. - The race started on a dry track but clouds were moving in and
it would all play into Robert's hands. Starting 15th on the grid, he would be
in a scrap up to lap eight and make up one position. And then the rains came.
Over the next three laps he would move to P12, P10 then P7 as drivers went
off course and came in for tires. A brief yellow allowed him to make up some
ground on the cars in front and over the final four laps he would go P5, P4 and
on the penultimate lap, P3 where he would cross the line to take his third podium
of the season.
With the third-place finish, Team Canada has now moved into the top ten in points
(9th).
The Feature race starts at 23:00 hrs EDT (11:00 p.m.)
February 01, 2008
Practice and Qualifying 23:30 hrs EDT. - Bit of a different
complexion on the day and a dry track closed up the times for all drivers. Qualifying
for the sprint race has 15 cars within 1.048 second. Robert will start 15th.
The feature race sees another tight grid with the entire filed covered by 1.5
seconds
— the top 14 under a second. Robert will start the feature P8.
The sprint race will go Saturday night at 19:00 hrs EDT with the feature race
starting at 23:00 hrs.
